KATHMANDU, May 12: After a long struggle to settle on a release date, Deepa Shree Niraula’s ‘Chhakka Panja’ is now all set to start screening on September 9.
Initially, the film was planned either for a September 2 release or sometime during the Dashain festival. The date was postponed as Nirmal Sharma’s movie, ‘Bracelet’ is releasing on September 2, too. Sharma is also one of the producers of ‘Chhakka Panja.’
Niraula says the date was finalized after careful consideration and long discussion. “We selected this date so that we need not ‘compete’ with any other Nepali film. Releasing a movie has become harder than its production,” she shares.
Since many other Nepali movies have been targeting to screen their movies during the festival season, the producers of the film decided September 9 to be the best available option. However, despite Niraula’s intention of not coinciding the date with any other film, ‘Chhakka Panjaa’ will have to compete with Suraj Bhusal’s ‘Gaatho,’ the release date for which had already been set earlier.
The film features popular names like Deepak Raj Giri, Shivahari Poudel, Jeetu Nepal, Kedar Ghimire, Buddhi Tamang, and Priyanka Karki, among others, in lead roles. ‘Chhakka Panjaa’ is also launching Deepa Shree Niraula as a director.
