KATHMANDU, May 20: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed cases at the Special Court on Friday against directors, doctors, lecturers and some other officials of Pokhara-based Gandaki Medical College and Teaching Hospital Pokhara allegedly for making extensive use of fake documents and fudging vital operational facts.
The anti-corruption body filed cases against lecturers Dr Ganesh Kumar Rai and Dr Narmaya Thapa, assistant lecturers Dr Pradeep Gyawali and Dr Rajiv Yadav, Dr Krishna Adhikari and Dr Prenit Kumar Pokharel and the college's Chairman Khuma Prasad Aryal.
Similarly, the others dragged in the case are directors of the college Ramesh Sharma, Prakash Lamichhane, Bheshraj Aryal, Humnath Koirala and Nishan Rajbhandari.
Meanwhile, the CIAA also registered cases at the Special Court against Mani Prasad Rai, the then member secretary of Singha Durbar Reconstruction Committee, Ram Bahadur KC, the then under secretary, and government engineer Jagat Bahadur Ranabhat for accruing illegal benefits and causing losses to the government of Nepal in collusion with Gorkha Construction Company-Chakreswori JV that was awarded the contract to for constructing Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development buildings.
The officials have been accused of colluding to get an additional budget of Rs 6.877 million sanctioned for the construction company under unjustifiable pretexts.
