Nepal wins 2 silver medals in Thailand

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Nepal bagged two silver medals and a bronze in the 61st Thailand Open Track and Field Championship. Saraswati Bhattrai won silvers in both 800 m and 1500 m race she competed in. Saraswati clocked 2 minutes 18.7 seconds to finish 800 m and clocked 4 minutes 42 seconds to finish 1500 m in third position.

Likewise, Amrita Mahato, who won bronze in discuss throw, set a new national record covering 40.31 meters.
Nepali team competed in the event after a 40-day training in Thailand. Altogether eight Nepali athletes had competed in the championship. Surya Bahadur Khatri took part in high jump, while Dilli Khatri participated in long jump and triple jump.

Similarly, Ashish Chaudhary competed in 100 m and 200 m sprints, Mukti Bahadur Khadka in 800 m race, Sima Kumari Tharu in javelin throw, and Saraswati Chaudhary in 100 m and 200 m sprints. The championship will conclude on Thursday.
