Euro 2016 : Ronaldo blasts 'small mentality' Iceland after minnows made historic draw
SAINT ETINNE, June15: Cristiano Ronaldo launched an attack on Euro 2016 opponents after the smallest nation of the tournament held Portugal to 1-1 draw in Group F match. The Real Madrid star accused Iceland players of not trying to win and refused shake the hands with them after the final whistle. Portuguese captain had 10 of Portugal's 24 shots on target in St Etiene but couldn't capitalise any chances to become the first man to score in four different European Championships.

A top class finish from Nani gave Portugal the lead before Birkir Bjarnason who plays his trade in Switzerland with club FC Basel scored the equalisier.

"Iceland didn't try anything", whined the 31 years old Real Madrid attacker who missed many good chances.

“They were just defend, defend, defend and playing on the counterattack " , he said.

"It was a lucky night for them. We should have three points but we are OK. I thought they’d won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end. It was unbelievable. When they don’t try to play and just defend, defend, defend, this in my opinion shows a small mentality and they are not going to do anything in the competition.”

Ronaldo who made 127th appreances for his country, said he is still confident of making next round beating Austria in next match.
